Colour! Splendour! Bombast!

Gods & Monsters premieres at the Saan 1 Gallery in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on the 26th March. A self-contained aesthetic universe traversing ancient mythology, obscure mystical symbolism, heraldry as well as pop art techniques, it is a bold celebration of pattern making and decorative symbolism. As an artist I am always seeking to push against convention and challenge notions of beauty and style. I believe art and design can be beautiful, subtle and comforting but also brash and subversive. Gods & Monsters pushes against familiar ideas of good taste, while challenging the conventions we are used to in art and interiors. The private view at the Saan 1 Gallery marks the beginning of an exciting process of experimentation and discovery. Indeed, Gods & Monsters is as brash and bombastic as the name suggests, expect to see spectacularly vibrant florals clashing with rampant dragons and vainglorious heraldry adorning everything from canvases, wallpapers to rugs and curtains.
